The Department of Pharmaceutical Provision is a structural unit of the Joint-Stock Company "Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery" (JSC "SCPPS").
In February 1985, the first pharmacy was opened. Since 2014, the Department has been established, combining two divisions: the Stock Division and the Centralized Pharmaceutical Distribution Division. The main tasks of the Department include organizing and ensuring the center's supply with pharmaceuticals, medical devices, reagents, and disinfectants; monitoring the effectiveness of pharmacotherapy, including side effects; assessing all medical prescriptions; centralized preparation and round-the-clock dispensing of medications to patients; providing consultations to physicians (clinical pharmacologists/pharmacists) on pharmacotherapy selection; and strict accounting and monitoring of the movement of pharmaceuticals and medical devices. The Department adheres to the principles of safety, efficacy, and rationality in its operations. The use of laminar flow hoods allows medical staff to work in isolation from chemical components, preventing inhalation of vapors and protecting their vision and skin. This comprehensive approach ensures the safety of the personnel. The centralized system of pharmaceutical preparation eliminates any inaccuracies in dosage calculation and dilution, strictly adhering to the proportions specified in the doctor's prescription for each patient. This approach also reduces costs, which is crucial in modern medicine, especially in oncology, as anticancer drugs are among the most expensive.

Centralized preparation leads to a significant reduction in the overall cost of therapy, saving budgetary funds, and consequently, enabling treatment for more patients. The centralized dilution of pharmaceuticals using modern equipment also protects medical personnel from potential harmful effects of chemical drugs.
The Department comprises the following divisions:
- Stock Division
- Centralized Pharmaceutical Distribution Division

The main tasks of the Department are:
- organization and supply of the Center with medicines, medical devices, reagents, and disinfectants;
- monitoring the effectiveness of drug therapy, including adverse effects;
- evaluation of all medical prescriptions;
- centralized preparation and 24/7 dispensing of medicines to patients;
- consultations for doctors (by the clinical pharmacologist) regarding the selection of pharmacotherapy;
- strict accounting and control of inventory movement, monitoring the expiration dates of medicines and medical devices.
Main Principles of Operation:
Safety and Effectiveness
The processes of drug dilution are carried out under aseptic conditions in specially equipped rooms, where laminar flow cabinets are installed in accordance with all requirements of international standards and the national regulatory framework of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The use of laminar flow cabinets allows medical staff to work isolated from chemical components, avoiding inhalation of their vapors, while protecting their eyesight and skin. This comprehensive set of measures ensures the safety of the personnel to the greatest extent possible.
The risk to patients is reduced through specially trained staff and a triple-level control system, which minimizes the possibility of errors both in dosage calculation and in drug preparation.

Rationality and Pharmacoeconomics
The centralized system for preparing medicines eliminates any possibility of inaccuracies in dosage calculation and dilution: the proportions specified in the doctor’s prescription for each patient are precisely followed. This leads to cost savings, which is especially important for modern medicine, particularly in fields like oncology, where antitumor drugs are among the most expensive.
Centralized preparation results in a reduction of the overall cost of drug therapy, antibiotic therapy, and parenteral nutrition for the Center (pharmacoeconomic effect). It allows for rational use of medicines by calculating their consumption based on the clinic’s total daily need. Consequently, this ensures a significant reduction in the total cost of therapy, saves budgetary funds, and thereby enables reatment to be provided to a larger number of patients. Additionally, centralized dilution of medicines using modern equipment protects medical personnel from potential harmful effects of chemical drugs.

Thanks to the triune principle of “doctor, pharmacist, patient” and the principle of “the patient always comes first,” by ensuring uninterrupted drug therapy through modern pharmaceutical technologies, the Drug Supply Department of the “SCPPS” makes a significant contribution to the recovery of our young patients.
