The Department of Pulmonology has been operating since 1962 and is the only specialized pediatric pulmonology department in the Republic of Kazakhstan providing medical care for children from all regions of the country. The department admits patients from 28 days to 18 years of age. The total bed capacity is 20.

Main areas of activity
- Diagnosis and treatment of congenital anomalies of the lungs and bronchi.
- Management of patients with hereditary lung diseases (cystic fibrosis, primary ciliary dyskinesia, etc.).
- Treatment of chronic obstructive and inflammatory respiratory diseases (bronchial asthma, bronchiectasis, chronic obliterative bronchiolitis, etc.).
- Therapy of interstitial lung diseases and pneumonias caused by atypical pathogens.

Educational and scientific activities
- Training of residents in the specialty “Pulmonology (adult, including pediatric)”.
- Conducting certification courses and advanced training cycles for pediatricians, general practitioners, and other specialists.
- Organization of outreach educational programs in the regions of Kazakhstan: master classes, training seminars, and courses in pediatric pulmonology.
- Telemedicine consultations and multidisciplinary consilia to provide expert assistance to regional physicians.
- Development and implementation of clinical protocols, standards, and guidelines, as well as research in the field of pediatric pulmonology.
